Meeting in the Kruger National Park while working together, Janine and Nicolaas both shared a love for nature and the outdoors.

Soon their friendship grew into love, Nicolaas as a qualified conservationist and Janine a chef decided to broaden their horizons together and got the opportunity to managed one of Africa’s best lodges in the Serengeti national park.

After being together for three years it was time to take their relationship to the next level and following their engagement in 2014 they decided to put their bush life behind them and do something of their own. Not knowing what at the time they just went full steam ahead planning their wedding at the end of 2014.

Janine has always been set on getting married in a forest, but the right setting could not be found...

Growing up in Caledon Nicolaas knew of a special place on a farm nearby. At first sight Janine knew that this is the place they are going to get married and with the approval of the farm owners they were able to finalize their wedding plans.

With the help of wedding Co-ordinator Kraak Events they created the most beautiful evening together. A canopy of oak trees along with the beauty of nature found at Die Woud an evening of joy and laughter was lock into the memories of all as a night the will not be forgotten.

Janine and Nicolaas decided to apply for to lease the land and pursue to build a forest wedding venue for other couple to experience the joy they did on their own special day. Approval was given by the land owned and after some very long days and sleepless nights Die Woud opened its doors for their first wedding in October of 2015.
